Of course, this may NOT be anything to do with the Jimmy Savile Yorkshire Speakeasy show referred to in Lesley Gardiner's email to the BBC who knows ? I don't but I'm getting closer guys. Does this episode of this show even exist ? WHY hasn't the BBC been able to find it ?
Haven't finished my Savile's Yorkshire travels yet, not by a long chalk !
Probably a copycat, inspired by the Sue Thompson story, with the Allegator thinking better of it after the initial call, and going to ground.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, but if so she probably mentioned the show too. A show that the BBC appear to have no record of !
DeletePollard seemed very categoric about the date and subject so I assume the BBC got that from somewhere.
DeleteI don't recall seeing confirmation from the BBC about that. This was a date that the producer of Exposure came up with not the beeb
Deletere section 6.2.3: "see no reason to doubt"... couldn't be arsed to look at the programme if it existed...
ReplyDeleteNot exactly Columbo is it?
Nobody 'cept me seems to be interested in finding this bloody show. If it was even made that is. Certainly an episode of this was broadcast for northern viewers on 10th feb 1978. But, the subject and the date it was recorded, who knows ? Maybe Hannah L could tell us "?
DeleteNice digging, Rabbitaway!
ReplyDeleteFor anyone wondering why others aren't prepared to blindly - whoops! - accept allegations against a man with no possibility of defending himself, you could do worse than read the report from cover to cover. The effort expended in trying to back-up a single claim from a vanishing caller are above & beyond, but at the end of the day there is nothing there... but they can't quite bring themselves to state the obvious.
I wonder who paid for it, given that the charity was 'asked' by the government to carry out the 'investigation'. Whoever it was, they poured a load of money (and manpower) straight down the drain.
Thanks Bandini the authorities have dug themselves a very large pit. It will take a very large amount of time and money to backfill it. Shame most of it will be tax payers money !
