Operation Mark Williams-Thomas

If there's one email that Mark Williams-Thomas wishes he hadn't sent, this should be it !

Given what we know now, that is

'lots of names and links to celebrities' ?

 The first Arundel detective to take a statement from an alleged victim of King was Mark Williams-Thomas, now a TV presenter. According to Judge Taylor’s ruling, after Williams-Thomas left the force, police found ‘a document on his computer offering for sale names and introductions to victims of Mr King’. The judge also said that when he left, Williams-Thomas took his police notebooks concerning King with him. The prosecution said he should not have done this because they were force property;

So, all this afternoon I've been burrowing back into the rich orchard that is the Pollard Report. It used to be very easy to find via the BBC site, but the old link leads nowhere. Still, where there's a will. I managed to find Meirion Jones' here, rather fittingly behind the words 'he's dead so he can't sue'.

On the 31st October 2011 Meirion Jones has, according to Pollard, no knowledge of any Police investigation into Savile. Take note of this pals because it's important !

But within a few days - talk of a letter emerges.

Two days - Thomas is asking to be involved !

This hasn't come out of the blue has it ? It's not the first time they've been in touch. But, we know this already. They worked together in July 2011, didn't they ?

And, of course, Jones knew about Thomas's earlier claim to fame - the Jonathan King conviction !

'he might be able to help us if ... really was a police investigation' ?

Six days later ex-Surrey Police Thomas, still hasn't come up with the goods, but at least Hannah's earning her tax-payer's wages.

The Sussex complainant has emerged. I'm not getting bogged down in that aspect of the story, not right now anyway. My mission here is purely to express what I think ! could be going on between MWT and Surrey Police. Read the evidence and make your own mind up.

Who's he supposed to be talking to ? Looks like one person to me. Remember, this is Jones's account of things.

By the 16th November MWT still hasn't earned his £500

It's not clear who's doing all the 'ringing' here, still, hang on in there folks !

Jones tries to explain MWT's exact role in all this. The following starts with .. why are we talking to MWT ...

 And then on the 25th

Mark gets an off the record admission

I'm wondering if this off the record thing even happened ? Remember Jones's boss wants to be sure before he gives the final all systems go. No-one, in a position of authority has confirmed anything. And, of course, the real test is : How seriously did the Police takes these claims ? Serious enough to pass to the CPS, or not ?

And then, somewhere along the line, there's a conversation between Jones and his bosses about money. Money being paid to an ex-Police officer, that is !

Strange, how I never noticed this talk about money before !

It was Meirion who mentioned levison, not me !

And then - it's back to where we sort of, started. With Mr King !

 Happy Easter All

  1. Most interesting!

"You know, he has two jobs in this. The main job obviously is looking at the evidence and so on, but at this stage his job is to try and get confirmation from Surrey Police that there really was an investigation and that letter will give us what we need."

The reference to a "letter" is interesting. Does this mean that Meirion had heard that a letter existed or does it mean that he specifically wanted a letter, as opposed to an e-mail, for instance? How odd that a letter fitting the bill should have turned out to be forged.

Re their speculation about a police officer called Angie/Angela, Fiona's fake letter was apparently created in the name of an Angela.

"Fiona claims she spoke with reporters about the allegations of abuse surrounding the presenter and told them about the letter she claimed was sent by Surrey Police officer Angela Sullivan in 2007."

How would whoever forged the letter have known there was a police officer of that name and how would they have obtained a Surrey police crest?
