StokeMandeville FACTS Pt 3

By June 1980 it was all systems go for the rebuilding of the Spinal Injuries Unit at SMH. I liked the following image of Jim with some of the patients etc.
I was happier still when I noticed a familiar face !
Correct me if I'm wrong, but this young man looks very like the one I use on my Twitter account because I like it so much
The Appeal is nationwide even a Police Force in County Durham join in and raise £2,500
I haven't been able to locate the news story behind this photo. It only appeared post Oct 2012 as part of the scheme to abuse ANY organisation, Police force etc associated with Savile. I do have the following but cannot confirm it as FACT but include it anyway FYI
The blogger says that this came from 'something called Durham narpo' THIS is NARPO and try as I might I have NOT been able to locate any further information on the above

But, I digressed there for a moment. Back to FACTS because one staggering FACT is that, by November 1981 Jimmy's appeal had already raised HALF of the £10,000,000 he'd promised to get.
Those are the words of Norman Fowler  then Sec of State for Social Services

The same month Jimmy unveils the new buildings plan to royalty
And Jimmy's team is working flat out to get the rest of that £10,000,000. Here he is with his right hand woman and PA, Janet Cope in 1982. I'll be blogging more about Mrs Cope and others involved with Jimmy and Stoke Mandeville Hospital in the next few days. After we get the new Unit built and opened that is !

Stoke Mandeville FACTS Pt 2

English disc jockey and television presenter Jimmy Savile (1926 - 2011) pretends to toss a 10,000 pound pancake, February 1980. (Photo by Doug McKenzie/Getty Images)
We KNOW that Jimmy Savile helped launch the Stoke Mandeville Appeal in January 1980. But do we KNOW why ? The buildings that housed the Spinal Injuries Unit in the late 70's were in a sorry state.  Indeed, the NHS itself was in trouble as shown by this VERY useful and important extract from a House of Lords debate on 14th November 1979. It certainly opened my eyes up to a FEW things. So bear with me Guys and gals because I want to give you a short history of HOW the SIU came to be.
Baroness Masham of Ilton
Goodness Gracious, "We fought for you. Now fight for us" The plight of the old soldiers was the business of the whole country. Now, here's where things started getting serious
That would be the same Gerald Vaughan in that photo of the launch of the appeal (see last post) BUT this debate taught ME something else about the NHS AT THE TIME. Just how much it relied on VOLUNTEERS, regardless of WHO they were !
Strikes ? The self righteous hacks etc who QUESTIONED what Jimmy was doing in hospitals forgot about that inconvenient truth about the 1970's.
Whatever, I'm for the FACTS ladies and Gentlemen of the Jury. And I end this piece with a great quotation spoken by Baroness RYDER of WARSAW . A person who would no doubt be branded unfit to chair an inquiry into any wrong doing today. Irony, my dear friends, irony !

But of course Baroness Ryder is Sue Ryder isn't she ?

I wonder what the great lady would have said about this Savile story involving one of her establishments in 1978 ?

The only FACT about the claim is the FACT that it was made and the story published in the Yorkshire Standard June 26th 2014

Stoke Mandeville FACTS Part 1

I have no idea who will say what, in the eagerly anticipated, Stoke Mandeville Hospital Report. But I do know some facts about what Jimmy Savile DID do for the hospital. I intend to share these with you but firstly, let's have a few FACTS about the actual place shall we ?
1) Jimmy had an association with the hospital in 1973. We know this because of this image. The Press say he began voluntary work there in 1969.
 2) Jimmy's OFFICE was in the National Spinal Injuries Unit. I draw your attention to these TWO FACTS because the press don't always tell you these things, preferring to embellish their stories with this sort of thing !
Thankfully, the good cops provided us with a FACT not a scary bed time story.
3) In 1978 SMH had 758 beds 156 of them in the National Spinal Injuries Centre.

4) Concerns were raised about a lack of resources to meet demand again from Hansard 1978

 5) The young disabled unit was NOT part of the SI unit in 1983
BUT, an awful lot happened in SMH in those five years. Especially after Jimmy Savile launched a nationwide appeal to REBUILD the Spinal Injuries Centre in January 1980. Here he is with the then Min of Health
Here's another picture from that historic day. My heart fills with joy tinged with sadness when I look at this image !
The APPEAL to 'pay for a new SIU at SMH carries with it some great stories. Stories, some of which have been RE-WRITTEN by a mainstream media with an OBVIOUS Political agenda. Personally, I'm not interested in their spin, but you need to read some of it to get an idea of what I mean. Try this
Only a corrupt press post November 2011 could find these meetings and events sinister. I won't fall down their rabbit hole. I've far more interesting stories to tell. Back in 1980, the guys and gals were loving Jimmy and what he was achieving. I haven't even warmed up yet. Join me tomorrow for Part 2 and keep smiling folks. The TRUTH cannot be altered !

Still PAYING after all these years !

The above is the start of an article that appeared in the Sunday Times magazine on Feb 4th 2001. The writer is Lesley White who begins her piece with this rather strange observation
'kids and nutters' Ms White ? Whatever, I'm more interested in what Jim has to say. But your article is VERY good I must say. I'm not very 'PC' either. She meets Jimmy at Kings Cross Station in London. She almost doesn't recognise him
They drive to BBC Television Centre in Shepherds Bush. He's not recognised at the gate either !
Jimmy's star appears to be well on the wain by this time. It's a few years after the Louis Theroux documentary. The one where Jimmy is more than happy for a stranger to rifle through his belongings and ask any questioner wants.
A little further into this rather lengthy piece we get a snap shot of Jimmy's REAL life. The people he mixes with, including one or two of his BEST FRIENDS !
I understand that this lady was a VERY close friend of Jimmy's up until the end of his life. She was certainly at his funeral and appeared in numerous photo's I have seen. However, that was Jimmy's private life and everyone USED to be entitled to one of those. Indeed, Jimmy didn't shy away from answering tricky questions, often before they were even asked. He must have had to develop a very thick skin.
We get to hear of the methods Jimmy used to PROTECT himself. The lengths he was forced to in order to keep a prying, predatory press at bay. Read on !

Goodness Gracious Jimmy was obviously very worried that the press or someone else would go to great lengths in order to expose ANY little thing they might be able to get on him. So much for being PROTECTED by powerful friends eh ? The poor man was afraid to even own a computer. No wonder he spoke up for those who had fallen foul of the law in this way ! But that particular interview with his FRIEND, Dan Davies was at least 8 years away. We're still in 2001 and Jimmy is still attractive to women of all ages. I daresay the lady interviewer might have been taken aback by his apparent cavalier, take it or leave it approach to womankind in general.
LOL as they say ! Jimmy certainly knew how to treat a gal. Doughnuts for the schoolgirls from Duncroft in 1973/4 and a taxi for any lady who might want to spend time with him.
And what I hear you ask, was Jimmy STILL PAYING after ALL THOSE years in 2001 ? Why, STOKE MANDEVILLE HOSPITAL. Some of the bills that is !

Next time - helping the little guy !

Mandatorily Reporting the dead !

The Slater Gordon /Mandate Now propaganda machine has gone into overdrive as the publication of the Stoke Mandeville Hospital Report draws ever closer. They want Mandatory Reporting  introduced and they don't care who they hurt in the process.

The writer claims that THIS report will be different to all the other NHS Savile reports. Indeed, it will be because, according to Liz Dux, her 'clients' have 'EVIDENCE' that management ... were informed about Savile's abuses'
The Observer/Guardian article is carefully worded. Salmon and another DEAD doctor are named. There is NO mention of a third.
http://www.theguardian.com/media/2015/feb/15/stoke-mandeville-children-at-risk-jimmy-savile?CMP=share_btn_tw
Bill Bailey ? Of course he was being posthumously accused in December 2013. He died in 2001, ten whole years BEFORE Jimmy and 12 years AFTER Salmon was suspended.
One claimant kills two already dead birds with the same stone !
 http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2516405/Jimmy-Savile-hospital-surgeon-Bruce-Bailey-accused-sexually-abusing-girl-4.html
This woman claims a 'junior doctor' witnessed Bailey's attack on her. My word this report will certainly be worth a read ! I for one very much doubt that Ms Dux' friends will have been able to track down that 'junior doctor'.
The Mirror published an article about Bailey too in December 2013.

The plot to get Mandatory Reporting into law thickens ...
